I have a herring problem

Just a quick OPI swatch today. I can't believe I have only just tried this! I'm in love. As the title suggests it's called 'I have a herring problem'. It's a grey blue with shimmer in it. I don't normally like polishes with a shimmer in but I'm really liking this.

Short and sweet today.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Disney

For such a long time I have wanted to try out disney nails so... here they are!
They are definitely not perfect but were so much fun to do. For the base coat I used MAC - cream (I think this is the name, it wasn't very clear!) For the rest I used acrylic paints. I really like using acrylic paints, they are so much easier than trying to do nail art with normal polish. I am wanting to get more skill doing more complex designs but this is a start.
The eyes and eyebrows were the trickiest part for me. It either makes the nail look cute or evil.
Can you guess which each character is?
I want to try and do a Frozen themed design. I have seen so many floating about the internet, I feel as if I should give it a go!
I put a picture of the base colour below. I don't really like nudes (unless they are very pink nudes) I guess they are just too plain for me. But nevertheless, it is a really pretty nude.
I won't be posting anything too interesting for the next couple days as I am off home from uni and can't lug my polishes on the train! But...
Hopefully more acrylic designs to come in the next few weeks.

Sparkling up with born pretty

Glittered up with born pretty store sparkles today.

At first I was a little overwhelmed when I opened the tub and glitter was flying anywhere but with a little tweezer help it was all under control. And who doesn't like glitter?!
They were easy to separate and didn't stick together which I was initially worried about.
The colour of them is so nice! They catch the light really pretty. I think that the colour of glitter that I tried  out would show up on any colour polish, even white would look pretty.
I only needed to use a bit of clear polish to stick them on and then a top coat, I was pleased that no glue was needed.

I must say, I have a lot of respect for the girls that  create really elaborate designs from glitter, because it does take some patience! Totally worth it though, it looks so effective.
I can't wait to create new designs with the glitter. The pot comes with so much in it, so one will last you a long time.

My application wasn't as precise as I wanted it to be but this had nothing to do with the product, it was because I am left handed but wanted a cool set of nails of my left hand!
The base coat for this design is Jessica - Pink Explosion. Which really says it all, it is the ultimate neon barbie pink.
I would recommend this glitter for anyone who is up for creating a totally unique designs of their own, there are endless ways to use it!

Born pretty store review 1

Today, I tried the Born Pretty Store Nail art water transfers. (A direct link below)
They were pretty straight forward to use, the instructions are clear and there are pictorials on the website. They also do videos on other products which is really helpful and good for inspiration.
At first I found it a challenge to cut around the patterns ready to transfer because there is so much detail on the designs. This fiddliness (new word?) is worth it for the detail that is on show once they are on the nail though. The background of the pattern is clear so even if the cutting isn't perfect, it won't show up on your nail, with any base colour used. The base colour I used was OPI - My boyfriend scales walls.
The stickers dry quickly and stay on well with just one clear top coat, so far they have stayed on really good. I have found that often other stickers come off really quickly but that doesn't happen with these ones.

I thought these stickers were perfect for the Easter weekend and for the spring season. Get your stickers with this link and 10% off coupon on my home page.

April Haul (not just nail goodies)

A spontaneous trip to an outlet mall with my mum resulted with this! Which include: (left to right)
Clinique - dramatically different moisturising lotion
Estee Lauder - Double wear foundation
Crabtree & Evelyn nail polishes
Yankee Candle - Guava
Thin paint brushes
Set of 20 acylic paints
Techniques - Miracle complexion sponge.

I have awful dry skin and have tried all the brands, even the more pricey brands like body shop would not make a difference. I have thyroid issues which do not help my dry skin. I have trouble with any skin make up because it's so bad. After two application of this Clinique lotion it was no where near as dry which makes me so happy! I think I may have finally found my tool. It is slightly pricey but totally worth it. If anyone is suffering as bad as I am give it a go, it works wonders so far! You also get quite a lot in the bottle and don't need much at all.

The next buy is Estee Lauder, I have heard pretty good things about their foundations and it was pretty cheap in the store I found it in. First things first, it makes my skin FLAWLESS! It blends easily and when put on with a good brush or sponge it covers so well. I have quite red skin and often make up looked 'caked' but this does not. So far I am loving it. My only concern is if it clogs and gives me spots. I find Mac gives me spots easy so I only use their foundation on occasions.
I already have a techniques sponge and adore it! However, mine is pretty worn already after only a couple months so I would say those with one/wanting one - handle with care! And wash lots. It's still an awesome product regardless.

Below are the polishes from Crabtree & Evelyn and were on sale (bonus!)
I have never bought polishes from the brand before. I tested them on one nail and both the colours are gorgeous! I can't wait to use the blue in a galaxy design (this is also my mums fave so I'm sure I'll be doing her nails the next couple days) I am running out of my favourite Essie pale pink and this is almost a perfect colour match - yay! I don't know how well they stay on with no chips etc. We will have to wait and see! Below are the names of the polishes too.

I hope this post wasn't too much of an essay!
I will be reviewing Born Pretty Store products in the next few days.
Thanks for reading.

Spring time!

Haven't done a Cath Kidston inspired mani in a while and love doing them so here it is. The base coat is OPI - Stranger Tides. The other colours are acrylic paints. The base is such a nice grey green colour, I should have taken a picture of it before I started painting. I should point out that this mani was inspired by the amazing Cass Gooner's design. I think it's pretty.
I will be doing a review in a few days.

My cat kept getting in the way of my pictures, it was too cute not to post a pic of it!

My first Chanel eeeeek

After years of sneaking into my mum's polish box using her Chanel's I finally got my own!
I have wanted this colour for so long and I found it in the airport so couldn't not. Do you blame me though? The colour is gorgeous.
As you can see it is called May 535, a barbie pink colour. I took a picture both inside and out because natural light changes the colour. I think my nails are getting a little long for me - I don't want to have any horrific breaks, so next post they may be filed short short!
Anyway, it's a good job I'm not going shopping any time soon - I've been looking at the next colour on my wish list!

Glitter craze

I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long! First my camera cable broke, then my mac broke and took 2 weeks to fix! This was a simple holiday mani for my trip to Budapest using Essie: Mint Candy Apple and Set In Stone.
I am now back on track and have a really exciting swatch coming up next few days!
Thanks for sticking with me - much blogging love.
